Te Tapuwae o Rongokako Marine Reserve

It was pointed out to me that there is a Marine Reserve at Pouawa Beach and that I had caught a fish there.
The marine reserve starts at the Pouawa River and heads north, is well signposted and I was well south of there.

And the fish was released back into the ocean and it swam away quite healthily!
